Digital Wallet

Is an app on your mobile device that holds digital versions of your credit or debit cards. A digital wallet allows you to use your mobile device to pay instead of a physical card or cash. Digital wallets are a convenient and secure way to pay. When you are paying at a till with a modern contactless payment system, you open the digital wallet, select the card you want to use, and confirm your purchase. Receipts are shown immediately on your mobile device screen.

Digital wallets are considered more secure than using physical cards. Your digital wallet is locked with various forms of authentication—in some cases, biometric identification such as your face or fingerprint. The information stored in a digital wallet is heavily encrypted, and therefore, your card numbers and other details are not seen by anyone, including the vendor.

Digital wallets can also hold loyalty cards, airline tickets, boarding passes, event tickets, and other information. You can also use the cards in your digital wallet to pay for online services or in-app purchases. Digital wallet services include Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
