This one catches people off guard. But it’s important that you avoid charging your iPad to 100%. iPad batteries age faster if they’re always plugged in. Quick touch-up charges are better than a full 100% charge. Your sweet spot is a battery charged between about 50% to 80%.

Use your iPad until it’s at about 50% charged and then charge it up until it’s about 80% charged. That won’t take long.

Heat is the enemy of a long iPad battery life. Between 6° to 22° C (43° to 72° F) is its comfort zone. Ambient temperatures higher than 35° C (95° F) can permanently damage your iPad battery. That means leaving your iPad in a hot car or baking in the sun on the beach is a definite no-no.
But, you don’t have to worry about cold temperatures. iPad batteries can handle the cold.

Charging overnight or leaving an iPad plugged in during the day is a common habit. But it’s not recommended, and ‘overcharging’ isn’t the problem — iPads are smarter than that.

A steady charge to a full iPad battery reduces the battery’s stability. It also creates excess heat as the iPad tries to get rid of the charge it doesn’t need. Heat is terrible for lithium-ion batteries.

Stop charging your iPad at around 80%.

This one sounds bad… A parasitic load occurs when the iPad battery is being significantly drained while it is being charged. It happens when you watch a video while you are charging.

Certain case styles may generate excess heat. Heat can damage your iPad battery. If your iPad is hot when you charge it, take it out of its case before charging it again. And, maybe consider a new case!

How can I view my iPad battery percentage?

You can view your battery percentage using numbers instead of just an icon. This makes it easier to see how charged your iPad battery is.

To turn this setting on: Settings > Battery > Battery Percentage > On.

Gluu Tip: A green background to the Settings app On/Off button means the setting is on, a grey background means this setting is off. Just tap the white dot on this button to toggle between on and off.
